Location

St Mary’s Cottage is set in the heart of the attractive market town of Hadleigh in Suffolk, within easy walking distance of local restaurants, pubs and shops.

Hadleigh itself is a vibrant historic market town full of medieval buildings, including the Guildhall and the Deanery Tower. These are both within one minute's walk from St Mary’s Cottage. There are a number of wonderful walks in and around Hadleigh with many signposted circular routes, a leafy walk along an old disused railway line, a river walk along the River Brett. The un-touched and photogenic village of Kersey is a very peasant walk away.

Whilst staying at St Mary’s Cottage you will only be a 30 minute drive away from many of the various attractions that the Suffolk has to offer – the picturesque villages of Lavenham and Dedham with nearby Flatford Mill as painted by John Constable. Also there is the historic town of Bury St Edmunds and Colchester - Britain’s oldest recorded town and home of Colchester Castle.

Just 15 minutes away is the county town of Ipswich with its fine retail areas, rare book shops, cinemas and the Wolsey Theatre. The regenerated dockside area provides many bars and restaurants can be found with wonderful views across the water. You can even dine on a real barge! There's still a foot ferry across the estuary and there's Frinton with its expansive sandy beach.

Closer to home you will find Hollow Trees Farm Shop which was voted the N.F.U’s National Best Farm Shop and Hadleigh’s very own cookery school, The Cooking Experience.
